9B.6.3.1 Timed Battle / Clarification for battle length

The rulebook says:

„These semifinal and final battles will last two to four minutes as agreed upon by both battling riders. If they disagree, these battles will default to three minutes in length.”

Shouldn’t this question be decided by the Chief Judge / Event Director, with consulting the riders? Or just set in general?

Comment

Agreed. 'Decided by the Chief Judge with consulting the riders. Default is 3mins'

I am not sure if we want these set. At local level, the trick level of junior riders sometimes is not that high and they would potentially profit from a shorter battle.

But I agree, I would give that to the chief judge in consultation with the riders.

I think it's fun to have some leeway. As previously mentioned sometimes there is just no caliber for longer battles, and some other times some riders are hungry for a big battle because it's a big rivalry.

I agreed that the final decision should be at the discretion of the chief judge, but it's cool to check with the riders.

Comment

I agree with all of you. We should keep the possibility to adjust the time within some limits, but it should be the chief judge's decision after consulting the riders.

Comment

Cool, looks like we agree. Should we make this a proposal?

Comment

This is involved in the other discussion's proposal (Giving signs for end of timer) so I wouldn't create an individual proposal for this; just change the wording of that paragraph at once.
